Bon Odori Penang 2012

A few weeks ago, I  saw the flyer for the Bon Odori event that's going to be held here in Esplanade, Penang.  I decided "I must go since I could not attend last year's event". A few weeks ago, a dream was dreamed.

Tonight, a few hours ago, that dream became reality as I boarded the public bus passing along that area together with my mum. The roads were caught in a severe traffic jam that stretched for miles, due to the event happening. But the bus soon managed to crawl to the bus stop and we alighted. My Bon Odri Night had begun.

To be honest, I expected oodles of Japanese food stalls everywhere. But as I slowly pushed along the (very) crowded street. However, I was disappointed to find the entire row filled with local food such as Malay Satay, Wan Tan Mee, Fried Chicken and Char Koay Teow. Only 2 or 3 stalls were authentic japanese stalls like the Tako Stall.

Moving along, my mum and I ventured to the souvenir stalls. I saw LOTS of stuff during my 1st Round and bought 1 coupon booklet (1 booklet = RM 20 worth of coupons, consisting of 2 x RM 1, 2 x RM 2, 2 x RM 3 and 2 x RM 4) during my 2nd Round.

I wanted to buy the SNSD mug but it was too expensive. It was kinda funny but awkward as I had 2 silly incidents about that mug. The girl told me the price but as it was noisy I only heard the 4..I gave another guy a RM 4 coupon and he replied to me the chinese for 14. I said sorry and walked off to purchased my 2nd booklet, hoping to have enough to get the mug. It had all 9 girls photos on it~!!

Unfortunately giving the guy RM 14, he looked at me weirdly and said the price again louder. This time I heard it clearly. "RM 40". I was like "WTF??Oh shit~! The embarrassment". I said No and walked away, again. He must have thought I was crazy.

So how did I spend the remainder of my RM 24? Easy as pie. I bought a T-Shirt with the picture of Bon Odori on it, a Stress Ball to squeeze when I'm angry, a opera mask and a bottle of water. RM 1 remainder = souvenir as a token of memory for Bon Odori Night.

All together I spent RM 39 in one night. Wow but my mum  said its ok, I don't come to these events very often (it was our first time) so what the hell, it was worth the money for a night of fun and great experience. Daiso

Yesterday as I was walking with my mum at Queensbay Mall, we ventured into this little corner where we saw a shop called Daiso. It claimed it was a japanese shop and sold everything for only RM 5..Take a look below...

As you can see there was a big crowd already lining up at the counter, carrying an armful of things to buy. My mum and I browsed through the shop and we found a whole lot of interesting and unique stuff, and it only costs RM 5. However, I discovered the downside of "everything at RM 5".

The Pro's

- Everything that costs above RM 5 outside would be very much worth it in Daiso as they only get it for RM 5
- There'a a variety of household items to buy

The Con's
- Items sold elsewhere like stationery would be more expensive here as they are paying above the average price range.

There you have it, the little Japanese shop Daiso. Most importantly, if you're going to buy anything there please make sure you focus on those items that costs well above RM 5 elsewhere. Happy Shopping and God bless.

Sorry guys for not updating my blog for a few weeks now. I've been like, really busy lately. Lots of stuff that I need to do. Hope you guys can understand me and thanks.

Right, so today I was shopping around for a back tie for tomorrow's big buffet night. Then on the way down on level 2, I passed by a small corner where they were selling shoe straps. Really colorful ones. I feel in love right away. And they only costed me like RM 2.90. Awesome~!!

I saw lots of colors, but I decided for one color that suited my black shoes. As I collected my stuff downstairs I walked out and sat down on the bench to do my straps. There were two elderly people there, one Malay and one Chinese woman. They both were staring at me, although the Malays guy pretended not to notice. I could read their faces : What is this young guy doing with his shoe. They didn't say anything as they watched me change my straps. I felt good as I walked away with my new shoe straps.

To me I love it and I don't care what people say. Even if they say its ugly, I love my shoes :))

The price of beauty

A few days ago, while on the bus I caught a glimpse of some words on the back on a man's shirt. It said 'I'm fat but happy'. He wasn't fat, just big sized. But I started to think, is being fat = being happy?

Firstly, ladies with a slender body (like the size 4 below) spend thousands of dollars on slimming products and gym fees just to sweat out all those pounds around the waist. They think after this workout, it will change them like this :

To be honest, maybe it does. But is all that time and money worth it? I mean, yeah okay you're thinner than others and every guy looks at you when you walks past them. But you know, they're not interested in you. They're interested in your body only. Plus, this issue has been plaguing plump women, who seem to think that life's over once you're fat just because no guy will look at you.
Attention ladies~! Having a plump body doesn't mean you're worthless and ugly. It just means that you need to slowly trim off that excess weight. And I said slowly, not rush to the gym and work yourself mad over that treadmill. You will only burn yourself out and you will just end up eating pounds of food to get back that energy. And that's how you gain all those excess fat.

So, just enjoy your life and don't worry so much about your body weight. Life is short, so don't bother wasting your time on such petty stuff. Use more time on making the most out of your life, regardless if you're pencil thin or bubbly plump.
